There are many different methods for dentists to cement crowns and bridges. Some are more effective than others.
Over the years, various products have been developed to assist with dental cementation. Some products allow dentists to do more with less steps.
Let’s compare two different ways you can cement crowns and bridges with some of the latest products on the market.
Cementation Method 1:
- After your final try in, we suggest cleaning the restoration with Ivoclean from Ivoclar. This is a zirconia oxide solution placed inside the restoration for 20 seconds then rinsed out.
- Apply etching gel (5% hydrofluoric acid) to inside of restoration and allow to react for time noted for type of cement used. This step is not needed for zirconia based restorations.
- Rinse and dry.
- Prime restoration with Z-Prime Plus or Monobond Plus and place with cement of your choice.
Cementation Method 2:
- Cement restoration with Ceramir (no primer needed).
According to the research, Ceramir can reduce prep time by eliminating the need for primer and etching. We still recommend the use of an etching gel for better adhesion of the lithium disilicate restorations.
